July 2010

Dear Valley Center Municipal Water District Customer,

Below normal water supply conditions and environmental pumping restrictions on the State Water Project, one of our two major sources of water, resulted in an 8% reduction in supplies available to Valley Center Municipal Water District from our wholesale suppliers, starting in July 2009, and continuing at least through your meter reading in June 2011.

With this reality, on May 4, 2009, our Board of Directors voted to implement Level 2, “Water Supply Shortage Alert Conditions” of the Water Supply Shortage Response Program, also effective in July 2009.  As a result of this action, District customers are asked to comply with:

► Mandatory Use Restrictions on the wasteful use of water and landscape irrigation; and

► Voluntarily reduce consumption by eight percent (8%) compared to the average consumption over the three base years, July 2004-June 2005,
      July 2005-June 2006 and July 2006-June 2007.

Attached are a number of important documents, including:

► “Level 2 Water Supply Shortage Alert Condition” Implementation Plan; and

► “How to Read Your Meter”.

Please take the time to review all of the information carefully.  If you should have any questions about the contents, please feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience.  Finally, please take advantage of the wide range of conservation information linked to our website, www.valleycenterwater.org.

Thank you,

Valley Center Municipal Water District
